Me and Deb at the Grand CanyonI'm Rory Jones, my story begins 23 years ago in Champaign, Illinois. I emerged from the womb, pencil in hand, and began to draw. I later received a NES and my fate was sealed. Around the same time I began to show an affinity for Legos-- the original box modeling suite. I attempted to design my first level for a side-scroll beat-em-up at age 7 and have been a dreaming up worlds ever since. The project has yet to be released :D
I graduated from Parkland College in May 2007 with an Associate in 3D Graphics Programming. Though my degree title is that of a developer, I dual-majored and satisfied all required credits for a 3d art degree as well. I find being technically grounded helps me to quickly comprehend and adapt to new tech concepts as well as to achieve a higher quality finished product through a greater understanding of the underlying technology.
I am actively seeking full-time employment in the game industry as an Environment Artist. I want to create compelling environments in a workplace that supports artistic and technical growth. I live in Champaign, IL but am willing to relocate within the US or Canada.
I play Adventure/Shooters because I have a hard time keeping to lengthy quests with my freelance business. Consequently I find myself playing quick bouts of TF2, Portal, HL2, UT3 or Need for Speed. Still, when I find the time, I love a good RPG. I blow the dust from a cartridge from time to time to get nostalgic. My most recent acquisition was Borderlands and it does not disappoint, visuals and gameplay are simply delicious. As for upcoming titles, I'm pleasantly awaiting Project Offset and the next demo of Airborn.
Additionally, I like to hang out with my girlfriend Debi and our two dogs. We go on outdoorsy adventures from time to time. I like cooking, tinkering with mechanical devices, tattoos & piercing. If I'm being expressive and/or creating something, I'm at my happiest. I also like camping, Red Stripe, riding horses, rodeo, stargazing, action / adventure movies, fishing, whiskey, fire breathing and chinese food. Someday I'd like to get back to playing my tenor sax and learn piano and guitar.

By the way, that crazed beaver toting explosives that you see around here is 'boomz', an alter-ego of sorts. He resulted from the combination of an old nickname that stuck and a totally undirected doodle session. I guess that completes the Bio Section.
